Pastor Carlos Story

Meet the Kids

Helping Children in Nicaragua.

The Story: in Jan 2006 I went to Nicaragua and met Pastor Carlos who was helping 18 kids who used to scavage at the city dump of Somoto in an area called Cascabel. He told me he had been reaching out to them for 3 years and was able to get the town to build a house for an elderly lady who was housing many of these kids. When I arrived at the "House" I was taken back when I saw it had no water, no electricity, no bathroom and no doors or windows.

The kids were still sleeping on the concete floor in the bags that once carried rice and beans. I had a bunch of toys with me and my puppet Lulu and we had fun. A few days later our Mission's Fund was able to buy the kids matresses and wood for bunk beds.

The day before I left Nicaragua. I was able to buy some bird whistles at a market. I sold them at a faire and sent the money to Pastor Carlos for the kids. He was so thrilled that he went to the market and found more bird whistles. The merchants were puzzled why a Nicaraguan man would want so many. When he explained that he was going to send them to me to help the kids, the merchants were touched and gave him the whistles.

Pastor Carlos, This is his facinating story

and I could see they were glad to be out of the dump.

I first met them in Jan. of 2006 and gave away some toys and told stories. But I left there gripped by their love and their needs.

so we bought them beds. Here is Pastor Carlos, who is helping them. The beds were fumigated in 2007 due to bed bugs and no water to wash.
Most of the children now go to school and receive 3 meals a day from Pastor Carlos' team of volunteers.
